feed a child

What hunger does to children

Millions of children in Nigeria are struggling with hunger. Even one missed meal can harm a child’s development. Studies show that when a child goes hungry over the weekend it will take that child 2.5 days of regular meals for them to retain what they are learning. That means if a child comes to school hungry on Monday they are not ready to learn until Wednesday afternoon.

Childhood hunger had broad range negative effects on a child’s health, cognition, academics, emotion and social well-being. Food insecure children may be at greater risk of truancy and school tardiness. When they are in school, children who are food insecure may experiences increases in an array of behavior problems including: fighting, hyperactivity, aggression, anxiety, mood swings, and bullying

Every day, children across Nigeria are suffering from malnutrition making them more susceptible to disease and early death. Students attending schools often arrive with an empty stomach, making it harder to focus on lessons. A daily meal provides better nutrition and health and greater achievement in education.

Our feeding program provides the children in school with a nutritious meal. The feeding program provides approximately 4,800 meals each month. This entails feeding the children breakfast three times a week

The gift of a meal is more than just filling an empty stomach. School meals meet basic nutritional needs while keeping children focused in the classroom. Feeding a child for a week cost $2

FEED A CHILD PROGRAM was birthed as a means to further help to alleviate the sufferings of the poor and impoverished amongst the youth. But the effect has been far reaching. A lot of them are pressured to have unprotected sex for money in order to have money to eat.

The FEED A CHILD PROGRAM has fed over 200,000 meals since inception and this has drastically influenced their sexual decisions. This has also helped to curb truancy and the children are improving academically as they can now concentrate better in class. The children are seen to be significantly happier and have a more positive outlook to life.
