One of the key areas that Ghai seeks to further influence the reduction of new cases of HIV/ AIDS is through information and enlightenment. By debunking the myths that surround HIV through seminars and plays that inform the youth about the power they wield over their bodies, thereby helping them make informed decisions about sex.
Women and Men who publicly live with HIV are recruited as spokesmen to help further put a face to the disease and help showcase the part each person has to play to promote our belief that AIDS should not be a reason to stigmatise anyone living with the disease
ENLIGHTENMENT – Access to quality education and improvements in life skills and sex education
ENGAGEMENT – We know that through enabling women and girls to fulfill their rights to health, to education and to self-determination, change happens. Good health enables women and girls to thrive, to grow, to explore and to contribute to their communities. Access to quality health services and learning how to stay healthy enables women and girls to prevent illness, including HIV, and to exercise their sexual and reproductive health and rights.
EMPOWERMENT– Ensuring that women and girls are empowered to protect themselves from HIV, to make decisions about their own health and to live free of violence, including violence related to their HIV status, will be crucial to ending the AIDS epidemic
ERADICATION – We must work collectively to close the gaps that continue to leave women and girls behind. Ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030 depends on advancing a social justice agenda that demands access to education, employment, health services, justice and political representation free from discrimination and violence.
